Fleck Water Softener Reviews: Our Top 3 Favorite Systems

Fleck has been in the water softening industry for over 50 years. Based in the U.S., the company is well known for its high quality products, and is one of our favorite brands. You’ll find a number of top rated water softener reviews on our site, but there are three models that stand out to us:

  • 5600SXT
  • 7000SXT
  • 9100SXT

If quality and performance are your top priorities, these three models fit the bill. Let’s explore each system to see what it has to offer.

1. Fleck 5600SXT

Fleck 5600 SXT

The 5600SXT is the most affordable option on our list, and it’s also one of the best performing.

With an on demand, digital metered valve, this water softening system is fully programmable and features a digital control head with a bypass valve. Fleck even includes a 1 inch threaded plumbing adapter to make installation a breeze. With an on demand system, regeneration only takes place when necessary. So, if you’re using more water than usual, the system will continue regenerating as necessary to keep up with your usage.

The digital control head features a backlit LCD display with touchpad controls for easy programming. 48 hours of internal power backup is also included, so if your power goes out, you still have soft water.

The 5600SXT can treat up to 12 GPM flow rates, which is ideal for households with 3 to 6 people and treating moderate to very hard water. The system’s brine tank can hold approximately 250 pounds of salt, and boasts a small footprint of 15” x 17” x 33”.

Fleck offers a generous 10 year warranty on the tank, and a five-year warranty on the head (including electronics).

Installation is easy as pie, and will only take one to two hours if you have basic plumbing skills.

2. Fleck 7000SXT

Fleck 7000 SXT

The 7000SXT is ideal for homes with large families, multiple bathrooms and very hard water. Although more costly than our first pick, this model is one of the best for homes that have four or more bathrooms.

With the ability to treat 11 to 20 grains per gallon, this 48,000 grain system can stand up to the demands of homes with 7-8 people. With larger internal porting (1 1/4”), the 7000SXT system provides the least amount of pressure drop and a higher flow rate to ensure maximum comfort.

This system features an on demand, metered control that allows you to simply “set and forget.” You’ll never have to reprogram or reset the time on this unit. An internal capacitor will ensure that your time remains set for up to 48 hours if you should lose power. And its non-volatile memory standard ensure that your system settings are never lost.

The 7000SXT also gives you the option to create custom cycle setting to ensure the most efficient use of salt and water, which will save you money and time. The system features a 10 x 54 high-capacity resin tank and a 15 x 17 x 34 brine tank.

With the 7000SXT, you’ll save up to 40% on salt usage compared to timer systems. And saving on salt usage will ultimately save you money.

3. Fleck 9100SXT

Fleck 9100SXT

Although the Fleck 9100SXT is the most expensive system on our list, it’s also one of the most efficient. Featuring dual alternating tanks, you will never run out of soft water again. With a high flow and the ability to treat high hardness, this is the ideal system for any household.

Fleck says this is their most efficient unit for whole house softening, and we agree.

One of the primary reasons why the 9100SXT is one of the best systems Fleck has to offer is because of its alternating dual tanks. While one tank is being used, the other will regenerate. Once the first tank runs out, the alternate tank will kick in, and the first tank will regenerate. In short, you’ll never run out of soft water. And if your water usage increases, you can be sure that you have plenty of soft water to meet your demands.

If you have very hard water, this advanced system is a smart choice. The 9100SXT is capable of removing 48,000 grains of hardness, and also offers a 12 GPM service flow, which means that this system can treat 12 gallons per minute.

The on demand, metered digital control features an LCD display with touchpad controls that allow for a simple and easy set up. The on demand flow meter will measure the amount of water you use, and regenerate when necessary. Like the other models on our list, this is a “set it and forget it” unit.

With easy DIY installation and a tank that can hold up to 300 pounds of salt, this is the absolute best system for a large home or a home that has very hard water.
