Salt-based water softening systems remove calcium and other hard water minerals from your water supply, but they waste a lot of water and salt in the process. At the same time, this method removes these beneficial, healthy minerals from your water.
The NuvoH20 Manor system is a salt-free water softener that eliminates and prevents scale while leaving beneficial minerals intact.
We’ve seen our fair share of salt-free softeners, and many of them are ineffective. But the Manor system is different. We’ll share all of the details on how this system works and why we liked it in our detailed review.
NuvoH20 Manor Features
- Salt-free system; uses chelation
- Removes scale
- Compact design: 8” x 29”
- For large homes: 2,000+ square feet
NuvoH20 Manor Complete Water Softening System Review
Most salt-free systems condition water using either magnets or electricity. Some systems are effective, but a large percentage are not. The NuvoH20 doesn’t use either of these methods to condition water. It uses chelation, and it’s the same process that’s used by restaurants and luxury hotels.
How it Works
The Manor system doesn’t actually remove calcium like a salt-based system would. It chelates, or binds, and isolates calcium ions. This process prevents the ions from sticking to your plumbing and appliances and forming scale. At the same time, the system also lowers the pH level of your water, which further reduces scale formation.
How does this system chelate calcium ions? With CitraCharge, which is essentially citric acid.
Some water softeners, even the supposed compact salt-based systems, take up a lot of space in your home. The Manor system truly does have a compact design. Each unit boasts a 6” x 24” footprint, so you can reclaim precious space in your home.
Ideal for Most Homes
The Manor system is ideal for homes that are 2,000 square feet or larger, which makes it the ideal choice for most homes.
Eliminates Scale Build-Up
Scale is one of the biggest issues associated with hard water. When scale builds up in your pipes and appliances, it shortens their lifespan dramatically.
The Manor system eliminates any scale that you may already have, and prevents it from building up in the future.
In the long run, this system will save you money by extending the life of your plumbing system and appliances. You’ll also find that you don’t need to use as much soaps, lotions and detergents, so your home is easier to clean as a result.
A Whole House Solution
NuevoH20’s Manor system treats the water throughout your entire home – both cold and hot water. You won’t have to do any re-plumbing either to avoid using treated water.
The systems “chelant” is food grade and approved by the FDA, too, so all treated water is safe to drink. It won’t change the taste of your water either.
Convenient Cartridge Replacements
Rather than using salt, the Manor system uses cartridges to condition your water. Replacement cartridges are affordable, easy to install and only need to be replaced about once every six months. How often you replace your cartridge will depend on your water usage and the size of your home.
- Eco-friendly – doesn’t use salt and uses less water.
- Easy to install.
- Compact design.
- Uses a natural citrus-based “chelant” to condition water.
- Eliminates and prevents scale build-up to extend the life of your appliances and plumbing.
- Cartridges need frequent replacing.
Although the Manor system will save you money on water usage and eliminate the need for salt, you still need to replace the cartridge every six months. If you have high water demands or a big home, you may need to replace more often. When compared to salt-based softeners, however, the Manor system is less costly to maintain.
We were surprised by how effective the Manor system was. The citric-acid-based formula does prevent and eliminate scale without changing the taste or feel of the water. We recommend this unit to anyone looking for a salt-free water softening system.
