WaterBoss 220 Review
Efficient, quiet and less wasteful, the WaterBoss 220 is a smart choice for four-person households. This compact water softener can easily be installed into tight spaces in your home.
Using a traditional salt-based system, the 220 removes calcium and magnesium from your home’s water supply through the ion exchange process. Salt-based systems are the only tried and true way to remove hard water minerals from your home’s water supply, and you’ll notice a difference in the quality of your water almost immediately.
The WaterBoss 220 also resolves a few of the issues that salt-based systems are often demonized for: wasting water and long regeneration times.
On the 2.5-pound salt setting, the 220 can go through the regeneration process in just 18 minutes. The less time the system spends regenerating, the less water it wastes. Many water softening systems take hours to regenerate, but the 220 can get the job done in less than 20 minutes. And in that time, the system will only use 15 gallons of water to complete the regeneration process.
With the ability to soften a maximum of 70 grains per gallon, the 220 is a highly effective softening system. It can also remove up to 10 ppm of ferrous iron, and filter out sediment and dirt.
Its compact size and quick regeneration time are two of the things we liked best about this system. With basic plumbing skills, you can install this unit yourself, but additional piping may be required.
With extra-quiet operation and demand regeneration, this is a water softening system that any homeowner will appreciate.
Another surprising feature that you’ll appreciate (we did) was the mixed media resin bed. The bed acts as a filter for chlorine, so you won’t have to invest in an additional water filter if you have over-chlorinated water.
The built-in whole house filter is also self-cleaning, which means you never have to replace cartridges.
- Compact design is great for tight spaces
- Easy to install
- Filters water to remove chlorine and unpleasant odors
- No cartridges to change thanks to the self-cleaning filter
- Quiet operation
- Demand regeneration wastes less water and requires less salt
- Built-in dirt and sediment filter
The WaterBoss 220 is a bit on the pricey side, but in our opinion, it’s well worth the cost. The system wastes less water when regenerating, so you save money on your water bills. It also takes just 18 minutes to regenerate, so you save money on your energy bills. It also doubles as a water filtration system, and removes dirt and sediment from your water supply.
We’ve reviewed quite a few salt-based water softeners, but the WaterBoss 220 is one of the better systems. Highly efficient, quiet and compact, this is a water softener that any homeowner can use and install with ease. We highly recommend this water softener to anyone looking for a more environmentally-friendly salt-based water softener system that won’t waste water. This Waterboss 220 is also ideal from someone that doesn’t have a lot of available space for a water system and needs a compact water softener.
